David Gilmour's lead guitar tone throughout the years has consistently been as varied as it is sought after. Numerous different fuzzes, overdrives, and boosters coupled with various amps and guitars have created some of the most gloriously rich and vibrant tones in the history of rock. While it's clear that no sole effect can alone duplicate the "Gilmour Sound", when it comes to fuzz...his go to unit for the majority of his career has been the legendary Big Muff, and with so many different incarnations and variants being employed at different time periods, his tone has remained extremely difficult and elusive to pin down.
The Iron Bell isn't based on any particular Muff circuit. Instead, we've tweaked it to be a platform that is wide, yet focused. Unlike the Colossus Fuzz which is based on the Sovtek/Civil War era Muff, the Iron Bell is voiced to be very open and rich, with an almost 3D like harmonic quality. Alongside the standard Gain and Volume controls, the Tone and Colour knobs allow you to sculpt the overall spectrum of the EQ. That Iron Bell is tweakable enough that combining it with various set ups and effect combinations will allow an ample array of colors and shades.
The Iron Bell's main focus isn't meant to be "David Gilmour in a box", it's more a tonal tool that can be used in countless ways to get the type of epically soaring, yet manageable quality of sound that has become the signature calling card of one of music's most legendary players. The Iron Bell can be much more, and can serve as a tool to take your tone as far as your imagination will allow.

What if I receive a defective or incorrect item?
If a product is defective upon arrival, or the wrong item was received, all the shipping fees will be covered by us and we will give you a store-credit refund on the original order. For defective items, Prymaxe reserves the right to refuse the return if we determine the reason for the unit failing was not covered under the warranty (i.e., if the item was damaged due to user fault or error). If you feel your item was damaged in shipping, please take plenty of pictures of the damaged box and item and immediately contact us so we can open a claim with the shipping company.
Please be very diligent with testing your defective item. Be sure to try other guitars, power supplies, cables, and amps. We also request that you take a video of the item not working. If we receive your item, test it, and find it to be working, we will give you a refund minus the cost of shipping both ways.
When must I ship my return?
Your return must be received by us within 45 days of the original purchase date for store credit, or postmarked by 14 days for a refund to the original purchase method (PayPal, credit card, etc). This means you must ship your return with enough time for us to receive the package within the deadline. If it does not arrive within 45 days, we will refuse the package. If you feel you sent the package within a reasonable time frame, but it arrived late due to the shipping company’s error, please immediately contact us to make an appeal before we refuse the package.
What if I pre-ordered an item?
If a pre-ordered item arrives outside of the 45 day window from when you ordered it, you will have 7 days from the arrival date to send it back for store credit.
Why was my package refused?
There are a number of reasons your package could be refused by us, including:
Welp Tried out the mojo Hand FX Via my Musicman Axis through my marshall Microstack (Just cause i didnt want to kill too many household ears!) but i was amazed even through that tiny amp i could get some ramshead muff tones with the colour turned down all the way, to tight fuzz (hard to explain). but as a closer review im not a huge fan of Vox amps, too much High end, but at the last Jam i plugged my 61 Gibby sg reissue through my little Iron bell in and totally rocked er on the fuzz front! good bawlsy tone but at the same time tight (look up some of big sugar/gordie johnsons tunes for what i consider bawlsy tones) with the colour at about 3 o'clock tone at 12 and gain cranked! and pushed with a TS10 Tube screamer she really leaped out of the speaker, I have yet to try it through my hot rod deville but once I have i may video tape it and put it on Youtube! and maybe update it here dunno even if the review contest is over id still like to tell my piece about this pedal because it wowed me on the Prymaxe video demo and continues to wow me as i get to use it. if you dont buy you owe it to yourself to at least try it and decide for yourself! and hey the hot sparkle pink might not be the best colour but you can always say you're spreading breast cancer awareness!
I've recently purchased the Iron Bell at Prymaxe (excellent, as usual!) and I was blown away by the beauty of the sound! You know, I am really not a fuzz specialist but I was looking for a sound that could have a beautiful sustain, not "just distortion". I use semi acoustics or hollow body guitars (Rickenbackers, Höfners) which are not associated with "big sounds", but here I got "my sound" and that's it. I find very useful the colour know, which really gives your sound a new deep, as you were ready to take off! I've put before the Iron Bell a Jacques Trinity in slow auto-wah and after either the Timeline or the Deep Blue delays and I was flying, a really incredible experience and a wonderful landing in my AC30 :-) I wish everybody a wonderful day and I thank the mojohandfx crew for this fantastic pedal :-)
I've never been a fan of a heavy fuzz pedal that scrambles my tone but when I heard this pedal I knew it would end up on my board. I play at bedroom levels with a tube amp and this pedal lets me get a nice growl to my tone. It has good sustain and is nice for holding notes and letting them sing out. I use this with a digital delay and it gets a nice controlled feedback loop that I can manipulate with my whammy bar. Beautiful.
I have to qualify my headline though... I am not a huge fuzz fan. I don't like really fizzy, buzzy, synthetic sounding fuzzes, which I guess is why Muff style circuits have always been appealing to me. They have the ability to get tons of gain and sustain, but remain more smooth and creamy.
The Iron Bell nails that sound, but it's better than any Muff I've ever used. It's somehow more open sounding, less pinched and incredibly dynamic. I am not trying to imitate a David Gilmour tone... in fact, I use a hollowbody Gretsch, so it's not likely I could even with this stomp box! But I am getting piercing, articulate tone and soaring sustain and controllable feedback, even at small-club volumes. This is a very expressive pedal, with a huge range of tonal options (if you crank the tone and set the color **** in the right spot, you actually can almost get a sputtering germanium fuzz sound). Also, it stacks very well with my Xotic RC Booster and MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe.
Build quality is excellent, and the hot pink sparkle paint job simply cannot be photographed adequately. It is awesome!
I'm really liking what Mojo Hand is doing these days. May have to get myself a Rook as well....
Yup it's a muff not a fuzz! I find that it not only delivers a rich clean sound at the low end of gain and a wild, raunchy fuzz cranked up. Very versatile. Most of all it's QUIET! I do "imitate" the Gilmour sound as much as I can and it works great on songs like In the Flesh? and even Time, it's got that much range. I'm playing two Strats, one with CS69s and one with stock 57/62s, both through a Sarno Green Earth OD into a Laney Cub 12. It sounds better with the 57/62s. Here's the thing though: for me, it doesn't have as much sustain as the Hoof Fuzz. Your mileage may vary, and my fingers might not be the best, but that's my experience. It looks COOOOL with a bright blue LED against the solid pink housing. A great pedal to be sure, and I'd definitely recommend it in a Muff collection. I'd give it 41/2 stars but it's just edged out for sustain by the Hoof.
