What if I receive a defective or incorrect item?
If a product is defective upon arrival, or the wrong item was received, all the shipping fees will be covered by us and we will send you a replacement once the original item is received. If for any reason a replacement wont be available for a significant amount of time, we will issue you a store credit to use on another item. For defective items, Prymaxe reserves the right to refuse the return if we determine the reason for the unit failing was not covered under the warranty (i.e., if the item was damaged due to user fault or error). If you feel your item was damaged in shipping, please take plenty of pictures of the damaged box and item and immediately contact us so we can open a claim with the shipping company.
Please be very diligent with testing your defective item. Be sure to try other guitars, power supplies, cables, and amps. We also request that you take a video of the item not working. If we receive your item, test it, and find it to be working, we will give you a refund minus the cost of shipping both ways and charge a 20% restocking fee.
When must I ship my return?
Your return must be received by us within 45 days of the original purchase date for store credit, or postmarked by 14 days for a refund to the original purchase method (PayPal, credit card, etc). This means you must ship your return with enough time for us to receive the package within the deadline. If it does not arrive within 45 days, we will refuse the package. If you feel you sent the package within a reasonable time frame, but it arrived late due to the shipping company’s error, please immediately contact us to make an appeal before we refuse the package.
What if I pre-ordered an item?
If a pre-ordered item arrives outside of the 45 day window from when you ordered it, you will have 7 days from the arrival date to send it back for store credit.
Why was my package refused?
There are a number of reasons your package could be refused by us, including:
I have been playing 35+ yrs, but only relatively recently got heavily into effects. I have tried many, many . . . MANY . . . overdrives, distortions and fuzzes in the past 3-4 years. In general I come to the same conclusion every time. OD and fuzz really aren’t for me. I’m more of a distortion guy. Just a little creamy distortion blended into the top of a clean signal. Just enough to add some grind so you know it’s there. I don’t doom, I don’t stoner, I don’t sludge rock. I mostly worship, country, and blues. So I don’t need anything extreme. Anything more than some subtle grind is just for fun and headphone jamming.
Well, most all of the dirt pedals I’ve tried have left me wanting or just haven’t been for me. I recently totally impulse bought a fuzz just because I could, and though it was fantastic, it also left me wanting for any sort of tone I might actually use in my real world experiences. But it was enough to get me interested in fuzzes again, and I did some research.
20 YouTube videos later, enter the DBMM. I had written off EHX after a few negative experiences with their pedals. I have tried so many "higher end" (ie more expensive) distortions, OD's and fuzzes, that I thought this couldn't possibly compare, given the relatively low price, and it was bound to leave me wanting like the rest of them. But I figured cheap as it was, it was worth a shot.
I gotta say, this is pretty darn good. It’s exactly what I’m looking for. It can do extreme wall of fuzz if I ever want or need that, but the crossover makes it highly versatile. I can dial the sustain back to about 2:30 and add just a bit of grind to the top of my signal. Roll the blend back up and the HPF down just a bit, and it’s a bit more fuzzy. The LPF on the clean blend side helps the two sides to blend together really, really well, as opposed to a full clean blend, which can leave the two signals sounding disjointed (though a full clean blend is still available with this pedal, even if you still use the HPF on the distortion side). And it definitely grinds. With the HPF on the distortion rolled up to about 2:00, it reminds me of that screaming, singing, ringing midrange distortion I got out of the EBS Billy Sheehan Signature. The gate of the DBMM also works swimmingly for killing any noise that might come from the distortion itself, or from my single-coil jazz bass hum. And unlike most other distortion/drive pedals I’ve tried, I don’t feel the need to run this one through an external blend pedal to make it sound good. With the LPF on the clean blend, it sounds fantastic all by itself.
Only two cons so far:
1) It’s a little large for what it does. I suppose that’s justified for the amount of controls you get, but it’s way bigger than I expected it to be.
2) I have zero need for the DI out. That makes no sense to me on this pedal. I cannot see any circumstance under which I would show up at a gig with just this pedal and run a DI out of it to the board. Ever. But maybe somebody would.
