Several years ago, I had a chance to try out an old Marshall Blues Breaker pedal and was blown away by it. However as much as I liked the pedal it had some issues that I thought could be improved.
I felt the original was very bright, needed a little more gain and needed more output since it was not able to reach unity volume at the lowest gain settings. All these problems are easily overcome so I began working on a design. The result is a wonderful sounding low to medium gain overdrive that will work well for blues, rock and a variety of other applications.
With the exception of the toggle switch the controls are your standard volume gain and tone controls. The tone stack has been modified from the original pedal to give a more balanced response but I added a high cut switch to give you a couple of additional options. I would recommend using NC (No Cut) option unless you have a particularly bright set up or for some rhythm or bass applications. The Mount Pleasant is particularly responsive to pickup selection giving warm full tones towards the neck and bright singing tone when you switch towards the bridge.

What if I receive a defective or incorrect item?
If a product is defective upon arrival, or the wrong item was received, all the shipping fees will be covered by us and we will send you a replacement once the original item is received. If for any reason a replacement wont be available for a significant amount of time, we will issue you a store credit to use on another item. For defective items, Prymaxe reserves the right to refuse the return if we determine the reason for the unit failing was not covered under the warranty (i.e., if the item was damaged due to user fault or error). If you feel your item was damaged in shipping, please take plenty of pictures of the damaged box and item and immediately contact us so we can open a claim with the shipping company.
Please be very diligent with testing your defective item. Be sure to try other guitars, power supplies, cables, and amps. We also request that you take a video of the item not working. If we receive your item, test it, and find it to be working, we will give you a refund minus the cost of shipping both ways and charge a 20% restocking fee.
When must I ship my return?
Your return must be received by us within 45 days of the original purchase date for store credit, or postmarked by 14 days for a refund to the original purchase method (PayPal, credit card, etc). This means you must ship your return with enough time for us to receive the package within the deadline. If it does not arrive within 45 days, we will refuse the package. If you feel you sent the package within a reasonable time frame, but it arrived late due to the shipping company’s error, please immediately contact us to make an appeal before we refuse the package.
What if I pre-ordered an item?
If a pre-ordered item arrives outside of the 45 day window from when you ordered it, you will have 7 days from the arrival date to send it back for store credit.
Why was my package refused?
There are a number of reasons your package could be refused by us, including:
Fabulous low to mid gain overdrive that pushes your amp an extra gear and gives you that grit that I crave. Adds that punch to my single coil tones and that extra oomph to my les paul. I’ve tried many overdrives/distortion/boost type pedals but I always come back to the BB. Many variations out there but the Vick Audio Mount Pleasant one is superb!
Not much else to say here except, buy it :)
This is the forth Vick Audio pedal I've had (including the Ram's Head, the Lotus and the Tree of Life), and they all have been fantastic pedals. This Mount Pleasant and the Lotus (which seems to be in limited supply) will never leave my board. The MP definitely has a unique voice, which is nice to have along side my other od pedals. I've tried several of the Bluesbreaker style circuits - the JHS Morning Glory among them - and this one just seemed to have more depth and complexity in its tone. Responsive to pick attack. The breakup can really growl but it never gets harsh. I think it sounds best with the drive **** past 2 o'clock but it can certainly do lower gain. For the price, you cannot beat it. Try one for yourself!
The Mount Pleasant is the second Vick Audio pedal I've had the pleasure of owning. My first was the 73 Ram's Head, which is just a fabulous muff fuzz. The MP is just as nice, having a solid physical build and exceptional tonal qualities. (as a minor quibble, I would prefer the power jack to be on the top of the pedal or higher-up on the side)
I needed a low-to-mid gain overdrive that warms-up the sound but does not color it too much. I am serious about my guitar tone, and the MP absolutely delivers. The character of the drive is very natural and is not harsh. (I play VOX amps, by the way) It might be nice if the MP had a way to add-in a little more bass if desired, but its frequency response is quite good even as it is. Perhaps a 3-way toggle for bass instead of highs would have been more practical - I find that it's too dark when engaged. The pedal is not noisy and has decent dynamic range. A winner dirt box.
